Western’s Local Government Program Alumni Society is thrilled to be hosting the 26^th annual conference: Local Government Interrupted. 

We’ll be talking ranked balloting with representatives from the City of London (a unique opportunity to hear first-hand how the previous month’s election went), examining the public-private partnership between Uber and the Town of Innisfil, discussing the impact of marijuana legalization on police services, municipalities and the provincial government’s role, and – new this year – we’ll be doing a workshop-style session on change management.

The conference keynote will be Jesse Wente, Broadcaster, Advocate & Pop Culture Philosopher speaking about the trends he sees happening across the country to share a vision for what is possible. As a self-described ‘Ojibwe dude’ with a national and international lens, he encourages audiences to consider diversity and inclusion in the future view of their organization, industry and country.

• $100 Alumni
• $170 Bring a non-alumni Colleague Promotion - Save $30 on the price of two tickets! If you are an MPA or DPA graduate and have a colleague who has never attended the conference and could benefit from participating and learning more about the Local Government Program at Western, bring them along!
• $120 Non-alumni
• $50 Full-time MPA and DPA students

Dinner and Dialogue - Come for the food and drinks, stay for the dialogue!

We’re mixing up the conference social this year and are looking forward to an interactive networking event that will help alumni and guests connect with past and present professors and fellow alumni. This is a great opportunity to reunite with friends and build new connections to help you on your local government leadership journey.

Price: $35 includes substantial finger foods and one alcoholic beverage ticket. A cash bar will also be available.
